Keemun Black Tea Grade 2

Hailing from Qimen County, Anhui Province, Keemun Black Tea (Qimen Hongcha) Grade 2 has a storied legacy since its creation in 1875. As a globally celebrated black tea, it ranks among the "Three Great High-Aroma Teas" alongside Darjeeling and Uva. While Grade 1 is renowned for its premium quality, Grade 2 offers a more accessible yet still exceptional version of this iconic tea, maintaining its heritage and distinct character.

Grade 2 Characteristics
·Appearance: Dark, lustrous leaves with a slightly coarser texture compared to Grade 1, often featuring a mix of intact leaves and smaller fragments, reflecting its slightly lower grade.
·Aroma: A robust blend of malt, dried fruits (raisin-like notes), and a hint of smokiness, complemented by the signature "Keemun fragrance" , though less delicate than Grade 1.
·Taste: Rich and full-bodied, with a bold maltiness, caramel sweetness, and a touch of earthiness, leading to a satisfying, lingering finish.
·Color: Deep, coppery-red infusion, darker and more intense than Grade 1.

Production Process
·Grade 2 Keemun follows traditional methods but with slight variations:
Plucking: Leaves are typically one bud and three leaves, slightly more mature than Grade 1, ensuring robust flavor.
·Processing:
Withering: Longer drying times to enhance depth.
Rolling & Fermentation: Extended oxidation for stronger color and maltiness.
Drying: Careful temperature control to preserve balance.
Grading: Leaves are sorted to retain uniformity, though some broken leaves may be present, contributing to faster infusion.

Health Benefits
·Heart Health: Contains antioxidants like theaflavins, supporting cardiovascular wellness.
·Energy Boost: Moderate caffeine content for sustained alertness.
·Digestive Aid: Fermented nature aids digestion and may reduce bloating.

Cultural and Culinary Uses
·Everyday Elegance: Often preferred for daily consumption or casual gatherings due to its hearty profile.
·Pairing: Delicious with milk, honey, or lemon, and versatile in desserts (e.g., tea-infused cakes).

Brewing Tips
·Water Temperature: 95–100°C (203–212°F) to extract bold flavors.
·Steeping Time: 4–5 minutes for a robust brew; resteep 2–3 times.
·Teaware: Use a porcelain or ceramic pot to retain heat and enhance depth.
